MoneySense

MoneySense, formerly Face2Face with Finance, is the largest financial education programme in the UK. Launched in 1994, the programme has reached more than one million young people over the past three years, supporting them in learning how to manage their personal finances.

Developed in partnership with teachers, MoneySense for Schools includes online, interactive resources to make each lesson relevant and engaging. You can find the resources at www.rbs.co.uk/moneysenseforschools and www.natwest.co.uk/moneysenseforschools.

The MoneySense panel will involve 10,000 secondary school pupils aged between 11 and 18 years. The study will enable NatWest and RBS to explore how young people spend and manage their money, the importance of saving, opinions on borrowing money, knowledge of budgeting, confidence in dealing with financial organisations, hopes and aspirations for independent living, earnings and the financial decisions they may have to make in the future.

The first tranche of research from the study will be published early in 2008. The study aims to continue to track young people over the next five years in order to understand how different levels of financial education and understanding affect the capabilities, aspirations and decisions young people make as they enter early adulthood.
